For AWBoater In fact, I bought this lens from Amazon as a kit, which includes a 77mm UV filter kit low profile and chamber cleaning. But all the comments of this objective are here, I'm putting my opinion here too.

I was in the market for a super wide angle lens for DX, and I had originally considered a Nikon 10-24. Then I met this goal in several studies suggesting that the Tokina would be a great alternative. I have a couple of Nikon lenses, and this is the first time that I buy a Nikon lens.

I'm very glad I bought the Tokina 11-16 lens.

My first consideration is the focal length. The reason I'm buying the lens is a super-wide angle, so the 10mm Nikon 11 mm compared to the Tokina was the most important concern. The published specifications indicate a 109 gr of view to the Nikon and Tokina 104 degrees for. Doing a little math suggests a broader picture of 4% for the Nikon.

But what does that really mean? I finally found a review in line with the same photograph taken by the Nikon 10 mm @ @ and the Tokina 11mm. You could tell the difference if you actually looked at the pictures closely, but the placement of the pictures next to each other, really could not tell the difference when you see "casual". Could it be that, naturally, look towards the center of the photo, but the size difference was not enough that attracted his attention to the corners.

For a practical example, take a picture and trimming 8x10 1 / 4 "of each of the 4 edges (you will end up with a 7.5 x 9.5" photo). This would be the difference between 10mm and 11mm. As a result, 1 / 4 "from each edge is about 4%.

With this realization, the Tokina was in direct competition with the Nikon lens for my decision. After seeing several comments, including one really good on YouTube showing corner sharpness extended several focal lengths and apertures, it seems that the Tokina is sharper in the corners of the Nikon.

The advantages and disadvantages of the two lenses, as assessed were:

Tokina 11-16mm Advantages:

- Faster Lens: f2.8 - Cutting corners. - Semi-Pro of the building - it feels less "plastic" than the Nikon (but it is also heavier). - Less expensive: about 25% less.

Nikon 10-24mm Advantages: - The most comprehensive coverage, 10-24mm vs 11-16mm - AF-S approach. The Tokina AF only, and has no internal focus motor. - Nikon brand's reputation. - Five year warranty against Atres years.

After all these considerations, I went with the Tokina. I shoot a lot of photos indoors for faster lens is important to me. And the price difference does not hurt either. In my next lens starts at 18 mm, 24 mm extended range of the Nikon did not bother me. But only after comparing the photographs of 10 mm to 11 mm and it was not easy to tell the difference in casual vision, which was sold on the Tokina.

This goal is made in Japan, while the Nikon lens is made in China. I do not know if this makes a difference or not.

One thing I did know, and this is not limited to one lens or another, is that using the built in flash results in a dark area at the bottom of the photo. Even with the parasol, the goal is to block the flash. So if you need an instant, be prepared to use an external flash. However, given the Tokina lens faster, you may not need to use the flash as often.

I've heard from others who have autofocus problems with this objective, but all these reviews at least one year of age or older, so maybe there was a problem and corrected it. In any case, I had no problem. No production date on the package, so it's hard to know when the lens was made.

I've had this goal for awhile now, and have taken on two Caribbean cruises. This is simply a target of a murderer, and I'm very glad I bought it. Works great for photos aboard the cruiser internal as well as pictures of landscapes. With a fast lens, do not usually require a tripod.

The only drawback is that it is quite heavy, but I guess that is well done and glass 2.8, which is worth it.

Now I see that the lens mount is available in a Sony / Minolta.

I'm very glad I bought this lens.

23 of 23 people found this review helpful. 4 My relationship with the "KIT" 14-42mm For Oly individual I have an Olympus E-520 kit purchased along with two lenses - 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 and 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6. After using them for a while, I decided I wanted a zoom lens base faster low light conditions without flash. Olympus Zuiko chose the 14-54mm f/2.8-3.5 lens. When it arrived last week, I spent a day taking pictures in front kit lens 14-42mm. The camera mode is used in preference to the opening to allow for comparable settings. Image stabilization was provided. Here are my results.

Image quality and performance I found a minimal difference in image quality (color balance, contrast, sharpness, CA, etc.) between the two lenses in the same aperture, focal length and ISO settings. In the same setting, the images using the 14-54mm might have been slightly sharper, but not enough to notice, except in the major crops in time. However, the objective was 2.3 times faster, ie at the same time, ISO and aperture, a photo taken at 1 / 30 of a second with the 14-42mm can be taken in 1 / 80 to 14 -54mm. Also at the same shutter speed and aperture, an ISO 400 shot can be taken at ISO 200. The lower the ISO and / or a higher shutter speed can increase the quality of the image, because there is less noise and less likely sensor of the camera motion, respectively. With the necessary adjustments to different exposures decent in low light, images and crops with the 14-54mm were clearly better. Bokeh is also better.

I found the focus speed and accuracy over the same between the two lenses for both distant and close-up shows, except in low light, where the 14-54mm had a clear advantage. The cost varies Given the current figures stadium I am sure that will change over time, the new costs of 14-42mm lens only slightly more than $ 200, a new 14-54mm lens is only a little over $ 400, or approximately twice its cost. II new version of Olympus 14-54mm lens is closer to $ 600 - but that's another story. Bottom line If you take all or most of their outdoor pictures on sunny days, I see absolutely no reason to update the lens of 14-42 mm kit lens 14-54mm. The image quality is essentially the same speed, as is the focus and precision. In addition, a larger size of the latter and the weight can make it harder for portability, and cost is two to four times higher than the kit lens, depending on how you choose to compare and buy.

However, if you want high quality images of landscapes in the days of darkness, inside buildings, or for weddings and similar events, where a flash may be of concern, then the 14-54mm may well be a necessity! And it is lighter, smaller lenses and less expensive than you can get with similar specifications. Finally, his most solid build quality and a little better telephoto and close-up capabilities could be advantages, but do not seem as important as his best performance in low light.

Am I satisfied with the upgrade? Not quite sure yet. I intend to sell my 14-42mm kit of receipt of the 14-54mm. After my comparison test, the intention of changing. 240 of 243 people found this review helpful. 5 quality, size and value By Philosoph I had the E-620 for a couple of weeks and am pretty happy. Other options considered the Nikon D5000, Canon T1i and XSi, Panasonic G1, Sony A300 and A350, Pentax K200D and K20D and. Some comments with notes of comparison:

1) Size and weight - There is no reason to have a camera that is so voluminous that it is not used much. Only the Panasonic G1 is smaller than the E-620, but not by much. There is a dramatic difference in the size of the lenses, the Olympus is much smaller than all but Panasonic. It makes a very compact. For anyone who uses the size of film SLRs, the E-620 is very similar. My wife also found in the most comfortable for her to celebrate.

2) Quality of the structure and management - Very impressed with the Olympus here. Strong, dense and with a lot of buttons arranged substantially direct access to the settings. The other cameras had a less solid feel plasticy, and his hands were not even bigger big enough for a comfortable pistol grip with my medium sized hands. The Sony, in particular, had awkward button placement. The E-620 has a different style of grip you hold the camera in the same way as the old film SLR cameras and is more suitable for such a small camera. I carry the camera comfortably on my left hand *, grab the body and the lens barrel with your fingers on the zoom ring, freeing the right hand of having to put the camera for control work, and leaves open my good hand (I 'am a righty).

3) OBJECTIVES - Olympus kit zoom are reputed to be of higher quality than the others, besides being more compact. So far I've been very impressed. I did not want to buy a camera just to feel the need to replace lenses kit, I prefer to spend on lenses offering new capabilities such as fast primes or dedicated macro lens. For anyone interesting in using legacy manual focus lenses, low cost adapters are available for connecting virtually any MF SLR lens to the Olympus bodies, lenses used can be very cheap on eBay. Panasonic is limited by a very small range of lenses. A two-lens kit, the E-620 is the cheapest option.

4) Image quality - he wanted to spend my time taking pictures, do not tinker with them in the post-processing, Olympus has the best off-camera JPGs cluster (Canon and Pentax, in particular, here are short). Despite the smaller Olympus sensors are known to be a bit noisy, so the noise there is mostly luminance noise, giving images of a film grain-like, instead of color stains chromatic noise. I found the noise very well controlled by ISO1000, even with noise reduction set to LOW. One caveat: make sure you have established a gradation in normal (default), no car, unless you really need it, modulated significantly increase noise AUTO.

5) The stabilization BODY - I prefer the body to stabilize the lens stabilization based on two reasons: the body works with all lenses, and lenses can be more compact. Just take a body, but is likely to carry multiple lenses, so it pays to keep them small.

6) LIVE VIEW yLCD - Olympus has the best implementation of Live View (perhaps related to Sony) with auto focus very quickly. This is very important if you love someone, for example, my wife or random passers-by, who is used to compact cameras using your SLR camera or similar photos. Tilt and swivel LCD is very handy and looks more natural than the implementations of Nikon or Sony.

Overall, I found the E-620 to be the best value for a two-lens kit.

Here are some notes on the other cameras to consider: Nikon D5000 - build good and handling, but a bit bulky. Live View is not very large. Much more expensive for a two-game Olympus lenses.

Canon T1i - Not impressed by the quality of construction, he felt plasticy. It is not comfortable for me to keep. Off-camera JPGs not so good. Lower lens kit. Much more expensive for a two-game Olympus lenses.

Canon XSi - Not impressed by the quality of construction, he felt plasticy. It is not comfortable for me to keep. Off-camera JPGs not so good. Bulkier than the Olympus. Lower lens kit.

Panasonic G1 - limited lens selection will take legacy MF lenses, but does not offer image stabilization with them, not in the body. Plasticy. It is much smaller than the Olympus. More expensive than the Olympus kit lenses for two.

Sony A300 and A350 - hated the button placement - ruled out on that alone. Live View is very good though.

Pentax K200D and K20D - poor camera JPGs. Good management and construction quality. Short on features. Kit lenses are not great. No live view / live view useless.

But I think there's a lot of personal taste involved in the purchase of any expensive camera, and you should try several cameras "live" before buying this or any other. I will not repeat the pros and cons listed in other reviews - usually, I think others have done a good job that targets. I'm probably the target market - I was seriously looking for a Canon G11 or Lumix LX3 before deciding to cheap wine for cash a bit more of this. I'm happy with this camera, because my priorities are:

- Size small: I hike a lot and want a light camera will be happy to go in the backpack with lunch. DSLR were a little too too big for my taste.
